As our guests you will enjoy our hospitality exclusively as we only have one party here at any time. Kuranui specialises in majestic red stags and also has Fallow, Wapiti, Rusa, Sika, Arapawa ram, wild goats and small game. South Island Tahr and Chamois hunts can also be part of your New Zealand hunting adventure from our lodge. Guests can also enjoy night shooting for opossum and rabbits, and paradise duck hunting in season.

Hunters and non-hunters are welcome, and firearms with quality optics can be provided.

Your guide Mort is well known for his extensive hunting experience, live capture of wild red deer during the 80's and guiding in the thick bush country of the Hauhangaroa Range. He has represented New Zealand in shooting, is a member of Safari Club International and is an SCI certified trophy scorer. Mort has a lifetime love of the outdoors and has spent many years teaching young hunters the necessary basics of bush survival and the art of hunting red deer. His stories are legendary and his grin infectious. An avid hunter for over 35 years his passion now is the thrill of tracking trophies for his guests, revelling in their excitement and adrenalin rush at the conclusion of their successful hunt and the reliving of it all again in the comfort of Kuranui Lodge.
